You've invested time and money in purchasing the perfect confection, here are a few tips for transporting, serving, and storing your confection.
We do our best to prepare & support your cake for transport. Here are a few suggestions for traveling with & storing your cake so it arrives in great condition.
Transporting your cake:
- Ensure the box/cake are kept level. Do not tilt cake box.
- Make sure to support the bottom of the box when carrying
- Secure a flat & level surface in your car to place cake during transport (some customers find the passenger floorboard to be ideal).
- Having a passenger hold the cake on their lap or placing the cake on the seat of the car are not recommended.
- We suggest to keep your car cooler than usual. Cake & frosting get very soft in warm environments.
- Cake should never be left in a hot car or in the trunk!
- Allow extra time for transporting your cake to the event site. Drive slow. Try to avoid sudden stops.
Serving your cake:
The key to enjoying any confection is temperature.
- Most of our cakes are best served at room temperature.
- We suggest leaving buttercream frosted cakes at room temperature at least 1-2 hours before serving depending on the size of the cake and temperature of the room.
- Cakes covered in cream cheese or whipped cream frosting should be kept in the refrigerator and stored chilled.
Storing your cake:
We highly recommend ordering extra cake, (especially our cake!) because there is truly nothing better than cake for breakfast! If stored correctly cake keeps for days or longer. Leftover cake can be stored as larger chunks or smaller cut pieces. Here are some tips for storing your cake either way.
- If you wish to keep as much of the cake whole as possible, press plastic wrap, parchment, or wax paper firmly to the cut side of the cake, so the only thing exposed to air is buttercream. Keep refrigerated and bring the portion you plan to enjoy to room temperature before eating.
- If keeping the cake whole is not important, complete cutting the cake according to the cake cutting guide if you have not done so already. Wrap individual pieces of cake in plastic wrap and store in an airtight container. Store cake in a cool dry place. If you refrigerate your cake, please allow 2 hours for cake to come to room temperature before serving- The cake will sweat a bit but nothing that will alter the taste or texture.
Additional instructions
- Keep cake out of direct sunlight, moisture, & heat as it may dryout, fade, or the frosting could melt
- Remove all dowels, wires, and support material (if any) before serving
- Fondant and Buttercream protects the cake for up to 5 days
- Cupcakes should be placed in an air tight container to maintain freshness.
- Dessert bars should be stored in an air tight container at room temperature in a cool dry place.
